Leadership Characteristics

Jesus was very explicit over every instruction He gave to His disciples.  He told them what to say, where to go, who to preach to, e.t.c. Matt.10:1-7“…These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not… But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand…”

BE EXPLICIT
One major duty of a leader is that of being explicit, detailed and thorough.
-        A leader who assumes that followers should know what to do often ends in disappointment and frustrations.
-        Followers are to be instructed and guided.
-        A leader that wants to succeed must never make any assumption.
-        If you don’t teach your followers you can’t blame them.
Therefore, teach them to lead them.
GENTLE BUT NOT DUMMY
In your leadership endeavor the scripture enjoins that you be gentle to all.  II Tim.2:24“A servant of the Lord must not quarrel. Instead, he must be kind to everyone. He must be a good teacher. He must be willing to suffer wrong” (ASV) But not to the point of being a dummy. Be gentle but at the same time smart.
-        Christ was gentle but not a dummy. John 8:6-9 “…When they persisted in asking him questions, he straightened up and said, “The person who is sinless should be the first to throw a stone at her…”(KJV)
-        That you are quiet shouldn’t make you stupid.
-        Gentleness is a spiritual virtue but being a dummy doesn’t represent redemption.  We are redeemed from foolishness into wisdom.
-        Jesus was gentle in the Spirit but obviously was sound in His mind to the recognition and envy of all. Matt.13:54 “…Whence hath this man this wisdom and these mighty works?” (KJV)
-        There is no conflict between the two, be gentle but refuse to be treated as a dummy.
